Add Years to a Date shifts a date forward by a whole number of years, which is usually as simple as changing the year and leaving the day and month alone. The one case that needs special handling is a starting date of 29 February, since that day only exists in leap years.
Add one, two or three years to 29 February and you land in a non-leap year, so the calculator rolls the result back to 28 February rather than producing an invalid date. Add a number of years that lands back on a leap year — four, eight, and so on — and the 29th is available again, so that's exactly where it lands.
This tool gets used for anything measured in whole years: work anniversaries, licence renewals, warranty periods, visa and permit expiry dates, or simply working out an age-related milestone on a specific future date. For any starting date other than 29 February, the answer is exactly what you'd expect — same day and month, shifted to the new year.
