Days Since a Date works the other direction to a countdown, counting how many days have passed between a date in the past and today. It's the tool for milestones that look backward — how many days since a baby was born, since a quit date, since a relationship began, since an injury or a sobriety date, or simply how long ago something happened.
Like its forward-counting sibling, it measures against the current date on your device, so the result updates by itself every day without needing to be recalculated. Leap years within the span are accounted for automatically, so a long gap covering one or more 29 Februarys still comes out to the correct total.
It's often used for round-number milestones — the 100th day, the 1,000th day, a full year to the day — where knowing the exact date something crosses that threshold matters more than a rough estimate. Enter the starting date once and the running total takes care of itself from there.
