This calculator works out the number of working days between two dates, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays rather than just counting the calendar span. Because public holidays vary by state — a Melbourne Cup Day only affects Victoria, a Labour Day only certain states — the result can differ depending on which state's holiday calendar is applied.
It's built for the kind of planning where weekends genuinely don't count: project deadlines, notice periods, cooling-off windows and payroll cut-offs. Selecting the right state matters here more than in most of the calculators on this site, since the same two dates can return a different number of working days in Perth than in Sydney.
